Happy Monday, DS Darlings! In honor of Earth Day (which was yesterday), today’s post tackles a more serious issue: the intersection of sustainability and fashion.
It should come as no surprise to anyone who reads Vogue, Elle, or any mainstream news outlet that we are in the middle of an environmental crisis. There are literally islands of garbage floating in the Pacific ocean. Terrifying, right? You probably also know that fast fashion chains like Forever21, ZARA, and Old Navy greatly contribute to the tremendous amount of waste that has accumulated worldwide. However, we believe that everyone deserves to look and feel their best and dress how they like. Fast fashion provides accessibility to lower income people so they can also look their best. Not everyone can afford to invest in a designer capsule wardrobe. How do we solve this problem?
That’s where we step in. Renting clothing is a major way to slow down the cycle of fast fashion waste. We have items to rent for any outfit needs:
1. Most women buy a cocktail dress or gown for an important event and never wear it again. It’s a waste of money and closet space, and even if she chooses to donate her dress, it can still end up in a landfill. Rent one of the hundreds of gorgeous dresses on DesignerShare instead!
2. Keeping up with fashion trends is harder than ever. We’ve all bought a trendy piece only to hate it a month later. Head over to DesignerShare to check out our selection of trendy Gucci bags or funky heels.
3. Job interview coming up? You want to look your best but can’t break the bank. Instead of buying a cheaper version of your dream work bag, rent one with DesignerShare over and over for only $20 a week (the same amount you would’ve spent on that low quality bag).
The DesignerShare team cares about the planet. Earth is a beautiful place to live and we’d like it to stay that way for a long time. We also love fashion and individuality. Join us in our mission to revive the planet — and our closets!
